Each box of Return of the Duelist Special Edition comes with 3 booster packs of Return of the Duelist, plus 1 of 2 Super Rare variant cards to power up your Extra Deck: either T.G. Hyper Librarian or Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction!
T.G. Hyper Librarian is every Tuner’s dream: a Synchro Monster that rewards you for playing other Synchro Monsters! Each time a Synchro Monster is Synchro Summoned while you control Hyper Librarian, you get to draw an extra card. It has no specific Tuning requirements, so you can use it with any Deck. But as a Spellcaster-Type monster, Hyper Librarian works especially well with the Spellcaster-themed “Prophecy” monsters from Return of the Duelist. To top it all off, his 2400 Attack Points are unusually high for a Level 5 Synchro Monster. (Better make sure all the Spellbooks you check out are returned on time!)
Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction burns and destroys everything it touches, including – eventually – its controller! But if you can use its massive strength to win quickly, it’s a powerful weapon indeed. Acid Golem is a Rank 3 Xyz Monster that’s both easy to Summon (just 2 Level 3 monsters required – no restrictions), and packs a heavy punch (3000 Attack Points). The drawback is that you have to detach one of its Xyz Materials during your Standby Phase, or take 2000 damage. And if it runs out of Xyz Materials, it can no longer attack! This gives you two turns of heavy, 3000-point swings to beat down your opponent’s Life Points. Unopposed, Acid Golem can inflict 6000 damage to your opponent before running out of juice, which SHOULD be enough to win the Duel as long as things have been going in your favor. If you run into trouble, you can always attach extra Xyz Materials to it with cards like Xyz Reborn (from Order of Chaos) or Overlay Regen (from Return of the Duelist).
Both of these Extra Deck monsters were previously available ONLY as special promotional cards. This is the first time these cards have been released to the general public!
You’re guaranteed one of these cards in your Special Edition box, plus the 27 cards you pull from your 3 booster packs. Return of the Duelist Special Edition is a great way to fill out your Deck – and your Extra Deck – for less than it would cost to buy these packs separately!
